What's New at AFP 2018

Apr 3, 2018

You asked and we listened. Every year when designing our educational offerings we consider what attendees are looking for and how can we give them the content they need. That’s why this year we’re focusing on practical applications for your biggest challenges, more learning styles for a deeper understanding and opportunities for you to focus on work-life balance.

AFP Mindshift

Understanding the importance of emerging technologies is one thing, but implementing them is quite another. Time and time again we hear practitioners are looking for real-life use cases. AFP MindShift sessions, speakers and exhibitors aim to do just that by offering unbiased, actionable advice on the trends and tools you should be paying attention to.

Did you know that only 17% of organizations are prepared for the changes that new technologies will bring to their treasury and finance functions?

Here are some of the topics we'll explore:

•   Artificial Intelligence
•   Big Data Analytics
•   Blockchain
•   Digital Transformation
•   Fintech to Automate Corporate Strategy
•   Future of Work
•   Leveraging APIs in Cash Management

Payments Hub

The payments space continues to evolve with so many hot topics that need to be discussed. Last year we kicked-off the Payments Hub and we’re excited to bring it back for AFP 2018. This is where you'll find all of the sessions in the Payments Track as well as networking events for payments professionals, in one central location.

Topics covered here will include:

•   Intercompany payables efficiencies
•   Smart receivables including lockbox automation
•   Early adopters of real-time payments
•   Card programs with enhanced technology
•   Real-time payments fraud and cybersecurity
•   Payments and APIs
•   Blockchain for reconciliation
•   Technology trends for global payments

Learning Styles

Everyone learns differently, so we’re offering dynamic options for educational sessions to cater to your unique style. Want a quick overview of an innovative concept? Check out an Innovation Series session. Looking to ask the speaker a few more questions after a presentation? Head to the Learning Lounge. Seeking to hear attendee perspectives? Attend a Campfire Session for an engaging session with lots of audience participation.

Each educational session will also be classified by the knowledge types Operational, Strategic or MindShift.

Breaking down sessions by learning style and knowledge type gives you the power to better plan your schedule and to map out the best way to accomplish your goals.

Wellness Zone

According to the United Healthcare survey, 70% of employees are interested in taking proactive steps to improve their health.
For many, even after you leave the office, work comes with you. With the Wellness Zone you will learn strategies and tools that promote a healthy AND productive workplace. These 15-minute bite-sized sessions are led by one of the top 25 health promotion professionals in the nation, Lance Breger. Topics covered will include eating healthy with a busy schedule, relieving stress in the workplace, and filtering out daily distractions. You can check out his blog here.

We’re working towards making AFP 2018 our best conference yet, and these are just a few of the engaging events and activities you can look forward to in Chicago. Learn more about the sessions and speakers that will be featured at the event by downloading the AFP 2018 Brochure.
